WordPress theme “GAIA ” has its own event calendar implemented.
Only with the theme’s functionality, you can link event information to the calendar.
So you can see what events are scheduled on which dates from the calendar. And of course, regular holidays and other notes.
WordPress has a calendar function, but it is designed to work with posting dates, so you can’t use it as an event date.
So, we decided to create a theme with a completely original calendar function, and the development of GAIA began.
TCD has released themes with event management functions in the past.
As an evolution of these themes, and as a new challenge, we decided to try to make the calendar design more visual. This is also the background of this project.
As you can see, the archive page of event information is a calendar. This was quite a challenge. LOL.
It wasn’t so much that it was technically complex to develop, but rather that the specifications and operation screen design became more complicated in order to ensure the versatility of the calendar.
For example, we had to consider all of the following possibilities and usages (to name a few).
“Schedule multiple events on multiple dates.”
“Multiple events in one day.”
“What if the event spans multiple months?”
“Picking up recommended schedule.”
“The event details page is linked to the event date.”
“To register the time of the event.”
“Smoothly change/delete the registered schedule”
“Seamless transition between the calendar UI and the event edit page.”
Even if we simply link the calendar and event pages, we can assume that different users will use the calendar in different ways.
Therefore, the design and specification changes were repeated many times before the release.
I am sorry to be so blunt, but the calendar UI is a good product that has been designed with this much consideration in mind.
GAIA, which allows users to check events on a calendar, is ideal for sites such as shared offices, in addition to live music venues and event companies.
